Questions

Is this clip editor really free?

Yes. Trimming, cropping, text, captions, speed and exporting are free with no account and no time limit. There is no watermark on your video.

Do you upload my video?

No. The editor runs entirely in your browser: your file is read from your device, edited in this tab and exported on your computer or phone. It never reaches our servers.

What are the limits?

Source videos up to 2 GB and 60 minutes, and exported clips up to 3 minutes at up to 1080p. Everything happens in your browser's memory, so these limits keep it fast on ordinary laptops and phones.

Which formats can I open and export?

Anything your browser can play: MP4 (H.264) works everywhere, MOV and WebM in most browsers. Exports are MP4; a few older browsers that can't encode MP4 save a WebM file instead.

How do I make a video vertical for TikTok, Reels or Shorts?

Open the video, choose 9:16 under Format, then drag the picture to keep the subject in frame, or choose “Fit + blur” to keep the whole picture over a blurred background. Export and upload the MP4.

How do automatic captions work without uploading?

When you click Generate captions, your browser downloads a small Whisper speech model (about 50 MB, once) from Hugging Face and transcribes the clip's audio on your device. You can then edit every caption.

Which browsers are supported?

The latest Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on desktop and mobile. Chrome and Edge export fastest; browsers without the WebCodecs API record the export in real time instead.

What do I get with a Salvo account?

Salvo finds the best moments in whole streams, podcasts and long videos for you, adds animated word-by-word captions, auto-reframes on faces, adds music and B-roll, writes hooks and schedules posts to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
